Sitemap is a map of website like geographical map of any place which
provides all details information about that particular place for instant, you
are new in New York City and want to visit famous places but you do not have
any geographical idea.
What will you do? Of course, your
will buy a geographical map of New York City first, then with help of this map
you will visit your all desired places. Like that every website have a sitemap
which inform search engine what’s kind of information that website provides. It
helps search engine to crawl each page of website including URL (text, audio,
image or video) that may not searched by search engine’s normal crawling. In
short, it is list of the pages on your websites.
So it is necessary to create and submit a sitemap
to search engine so that it can know about all pages of your website including
URL which may not searched by normal crawling process as I mentioned above.
You
can submit a text, XML, or RSS/Atom feed as a Sitemap. You can create a Sitemap
based on the Sitemap protocol or you can
submit a metadata if have knowledge of HTML, which provide information about
special types of content on your site including video, image, moble and
news.
Google is biggest search engine and it follows Sitemap
Protocol 0.9 as defined by sitemaps.org.
